CARAQUENIAN GOLFEADOS

Golfeado2

The Golfeado is a typical rolled bread from the outskirts of Caracas.
The Golfeado is filled with grated papelón (unrefined cane sugar) and white cheese, sprinkled with aniseeds, which are responsible for that characteristic taste and aroma. The cheese on top gives it that touch of saltiness that contrasts with the sweetness of the melted papelón, which becomes a syrup in the heat of the oven. They are usually served slightly warm if not actually hot, so that the experience transports you to the Mérida mountains.

Pass by Cachitos on a weekend and treat yourself with this Caraquean original roll.

THE PAN DE JAMÓN

PanDeJamon

Having been created in a Caracas bakery in 1905, the Pan de Jamón was immediately here to stay. With the passing of time, ingredients have been added, and its reach expanded to the whole of the nation, especially during the Christmas Holidays.

The Pan de Jamón, as we know it today, is filled with smoked ham, olives, and raisins, all rolled up in a slightly sweet dough. The Pan de Jamón, and its peculiar taste is an essential part of the Venezuelan gastronomy. It is a custom to bring one as a Christmas gift when going to friends’ and relatives’ houses for meals and reunions during the entire holiday season. It is a tradition with a delicious flavour that begs to be shared. Cachitos offers its very own Pan de Jamón, on order, from October 1st to December 31st, in a beautiful packaging that is ready to be gifted or simply to take home. All good things to those who wait…
